The retro glam of the 1970s is back in style. I suggest asking your grandma if she still has any of her hot girl outfits in the closet. You’ll probably be able to cash in on the vintage styles or keep them for yourself and see if you can recreate what is bound to be springs grooviest trend.

70s black women

In the early 1970s a lot of women’s fashion was being carried over from the hippie movement of the late 60s. Popular Styles included bell bottom pants, frayed jeans, midi skirts, maxi dresses, tie-dye, and other crazy cool patterns. You can see these styles today trending everywhere with fashion moving away from the skinny jean look and into the loose boyfriend jeans and flair/stacked jeans.

70s inspired

For women who weren’t into the grungy hippie look, we saw a lot of tight fitted dresses and skirts paired with long sleeve turtlenecks, stockings, and boots. The 70s also brought about the trend of the oversized sweater and women’s power suits. In today’s fashion the blazer dress and the power suit has never really left the scene, however, I do think the modern cut and colors definitely add a little something that was missing when our grandmas were rocking the look.

Diana Ross

Now we couldn’t talk about the 70s without mentioning the disco era. Disco took over fashion for everyone in the mid-late ’70s. Disco styles for women included jersey wrap dresses, tube tops, sequined shirts, spandex shorts, and high slit skirts with boots or chunky heels. Honestly we can see all of these looks in any trendy boutique today. While I don’t see myself rocking a pair of chunky, white, patent leather, boots, I can see myself in literally every outfit from the disco era lol.

All of these great styles inspired our collection of new arrivals. We love everything the 70s had to offer and found pieces that offer a modern twist. These styles are going to dominate this upcoming season, but we want to know what are your favorite styles from the 70s, and do you see these trends sticking around? Leave a comment and let us know what you think. XOXO, Ivy Reina
