New Year New Trends
Now that the holidays are over we can get back to our weekly blog post! We couldn’t start the year off without talking about the upcoming fashion trends of 2022....
National Cinnamon Day
To start off we have to talk about where cinnamon comes from. I actually learned this while writing this blog, but cinnamon comes from the bark of a cinnamon tree. I mean it definitely looks like overgrown pencil shaving but who knew it actually came from a tree too.
Top 5 Last minute costume ideas
Happy Monday Queens, It’s the last Monday in October, and do you know what that means? It’s almost Halloween which means parties every day of the week. Need an idea...
Top 5 Spooky Season Activities
As adults we need to make monthly girls night sleepovers a thing. Kick the men out and invite over the girls. Everyone wear their cutest PJs and bring a Halloween-themed snack and cocktail. This way no one is stuck buying all the food and everyone can get drunk without having to worry about driving home. Click the photo to take a look at our newest PJ set.
Top 5 Female Heroes
In honor of Indigenous People’s Day, we have to talk about a native female hero as well. Danielle Moonstar is a Native American woman of the Cheyenne Nation. She’s part of the X-Men Universe so she discovers she has mutant powers when she hits puberty. Moonstar is able to manifest her nightmares into reality and has some telepathic abilities. Throughout her life in the marvel universe, her powers are taken away and yet she still maintained some of her telekinetic abilities because she was an underappreciated badass.
Top 5 Female Villains
Shego: I love Shego from Kim Possible. She knows that she works for an idiot, but she’s seemingly happy with her career despite her sassy attitude. Honestly, she’s kind of inspiring outside of the crimes she commits. She does what she wants and says what she wants and has the power to manipulate some sort of green energy. Not to mention she’s educated, holds a degree in child development, and even tutored another villain’s son.
Our Top 5 Latinx Style Icons
We have to start our list with Selena Quintanilla. This style icon captured the hearts of billions before and after her untimely passing. She’s definitely one of the original petite curvy queens and her love of red lipstick and high-waisted pants and crop tops have definitely influenced a lot of the styles that we see today. If you ever find yourself in Corpus Cristi you have to visit the Selena museum where you can see some of her iconic costumes and dresses as well as shop for Selena merch.
Top 5 Activities For The Fall Season
Last but certainly the most fun, grab your friends and hit up your local wineries and breweries. I love a good fall sangria a trip to a winery will be the perfect place to pick out the perfect bottle for the mix. Although I do not like beer, beer tasting is actually a lot of fun. I love challenging the beer experts to find something I can actually finish a cup of.
Top 5 Pop Up Shop Finds
Starting with a great shop that we found this past weekend. Sage N Thangs is a black-owned botanica/apothecary bringing you wellness, health, and spirituality. She hand wraps her sage and blesses her crystals and her soaps smell amazing.
Beyonce Quotes To Live By
“The more you mature, you realize these imperfections make you more beautiful.” It’s funny because it’s so easy to understand this quote when you think about someone else’s beautiful imperfections, but when it comes to our own it’s hard to find the beauty in them. This quote has helped me fall in love with the fupa.
Fall 2021 Accessory Trends
The last trend we’ll talk about today is the headscarf. Now I know there has been a lot of controversy over the bonnet over the summer, but the scarf is trending. So, grab your silk/satin scarves and protect your crown sis.
Top 5 Fashion Trends Of Fall 2021
This next trend is for our glam queens. SEQUINS and SPARKLES are in, and not just for evening-wear, but as an everyday trend. This fall we will be rocking our sparkles as tops, skirts, and pants, all paired with something neutral and flowy to calm down the glitter. I personally can’t wait to try out the pants from our Emily set with an oversized button-down or oversized blazer.
