Valentine's Day Outfit Ideas

Valentine's Day Outfit Ideas

Ok, so we’re going to start with classy Valentine’s Day outfit ideas. So when I think of class v-day outfits my mind goes straight to Gabrielle Union’s character Mary Jane and her collection of sheath dresses. We love a cute fitted sheath dress because it screams classy boss lady no matter what your actual position is lol. If you’re planning on going on an elegant date night after work then this is the perfect transition look as well. The fit of the sheath dress will give your body a nice shape and typically these dresses are knee-length so you’ll be able to show off some leg, modestly. Pair with simple accessories and shoes to keep the luxury vibe. If you’re thinking of wearing black try adding a pop of color with your shoes and bag. Check out our Classy Valentine's day looks here.

Morning vs Night Time Skincare Routine

Morning vs Night Time Skincare Routine

When we talk about skincare we have to start with our morning routine. To start my skincare routine I pull my hair back with a headband so that I have full access to my face. With a warm towel, I wet my face with warm water because I don’t like to apply my cleanser on dry skin (but I’m sure it doesn’t matter). After rinsing my face I use a damp warm towel to pat my skin semi-dry. With a cotton pad, I tone my skin with my favorite toner. Next, I typically use a water-based serum to hydrate my skin because my skin gets oily throughout the day, however, during the winter I will sub the water-based serum for an oil-based serum because the winter air makes my skin dry. The last few steps are to add my moisturizer and sunscreen to prevent sun damage.

Now we couldn’t talk about the 70s without mentioning the disco era. Disco took over fashion for everyone in the mid-late ’70s. Disco styles for women included jersey wrap dresses, tube tops, sequined shirts, spandex shorts, and high slit skirts with boots or chunky heels. Honestly we can see all of these looks in any trendy boutique today. While I don’t see myself rocking a pair of chunky, white, patent leather, boots, I can see myself in literally every outfit from the disco era lol.

National Cinnamon Day

National Cinnamon Day

To start off we have to talk about where cinnamon comes from. I actually learned this while writing this blog, but cinnamon comes from the bark of a cinnamon tree. I mean it definitely looks like overgrown pencil shaving but who knew it actually came from a tree too.

Top 5 Female Heroes

In honor of Indigenous People’s Day, we have to talk about a native female hero as well. Danielle Moonstar is a Native American woman of the Cheyenne Nation. She’s part of the X-Men Universe so she discovers she has mutant powers when she hits puberty. Moonstar is able to manifest her nightmares into reality and has some telepathic abilities. Throughout her life in the marvel universe, her powers are taken away and yet she still maintained some of her telekinetic abilities because she was an underappreciated badass.

Shego: I love Shego from Kim Possible. She knows that she works for an idiot, but she’s seemingly happy with her career despite her sassy attitude. Honestly, she’s kind of inspiring outside of the crimes she commits. She does what she wants and says what she wants and has the power to manipulate some sort of green energy. Not to mention she’s educated, holds a degree in child development, and even tutored another villain’s son.

Our Top 5 Latinx Style Icons

Our Top 5 Latinx Style Icons

We have to start our list with Selena Quintanilla. This style icon captured the hearts of billions before and after her untimely passing. She’s definitely one of the original petite curvy queens and her love of red lipstick and high-waisted pants and crop tops have definitely influenced a lot of the styles that we see today. If you ever find yourself in Corpus Cristi you have to visit the Selena museum where you can see some of her iconic costumes and dresses as well as shop for Selena merch.

Last but certainly the most fun, grab your friends and hit up your local wineries and breweries. I love a good fall sangria a trip to a winery will be the perfect place to pick out the perfect bottle for the mix. Although I do not like beer, beer tasting is actually a lot of fun. I love challenging the beer experts to find something I can actually finish a cup of.

Starting with a great shop that we found this past weekend. Sage N Thangs is a black-owned botanica/apothecary bringing you wellness, health, and spirituality. She hand wraps her sage and blesses her crystals and her soaps smell amazing.
